Erasure of Stored Optical Information by Applying Erasing Pulses of Different Shapes

Abstract: We experimentally demonstrate the erasure of stored optical information in a Pr3+∶Y2SiO5 crystal by applying an erasing pulse to destroy atomic spin coherence. We observed an erasing efficiency of about 85％ and discussed the erasure of stored optical information by applying different pulses. 
