Abstract: Abstract:Objective  To explore the association between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of forkhead box transcription factor O1 (FOXO1) and the susceptibility to type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in the Han population of Northern China,and to clarify  the association between  SNPs of FOXO1 gene and T2DM.Methods Using case-control study design,190 cases of T2DM patients were recruited in  case group and 193 healthy persons were selected as control group.The method of Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Time of Flight Mass Spectrometry (MALI-TOF-MS) was applied to detect the SNPs  of rs2755213,rs2701880,and rs10507486 in FOXO1 gene.Results There were no significant differences in the frequencies of the alleles and the genotypes at rs2701880,rs2755213 and rs10507486 sites between two groups(P>0.05).There were no significant differences in the distribution of  the haplotypes rs2755213-rs2701880,rs2701880-rs10507486 and rs2755213-rs2701880-rs10507486 formatted by rs2701880,rs2755213 and rs10507486 sites between two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion The polymorphisms of  rs2701880,rs2755213 and rs10507486 in FOXO1 gene may not be the biomarkers of susceptibility to T2DM in Han population of Northern China.
