Radio interference suppression for high frequency radar based on oblique projection polarization filtering

Abstract:

Polarization filtering technique has been developed as an efficient way to suppress radio interference in recent years. To further suppress the interference using polarization filtering technique when the target and the interference polarization parameter are non-orthogonal, a novel polarization filtering method is proposed, which is called the Oblique Projection Polarization Filter (OPPF). First, the polarization parameter subspaces of the target signal and interference are estimated in time and frequency domains. Then, the oblique projection operators are constructed to form the polarization filtering vector. The proposed OPPF can effectively mitigate the radio interferences in time and frequency domains. The OPPF is the extension of conventional polarization filter. The effectiveness of the proposed OPPF is validated by theoretical analysis and simulation results.
