Abstract: The conventional layout for CDP reflection survey in engineering geophysics, in which the receiving arrays and the shooting points are moving simultaneously, often causes lower efficiency. Based on the principle of common depth point, the authors present an unconventional geometry system in which only shooting points are moved. The geometry system is discussed in detail, and is also compared with the conventional layout. It is believed that not only increases the new geometry field work efficiency, but also could improve the data S/N ratio and the accuracy of velocity analysis. It can be applied in refraction seismology and multichannel analysis of surface waves（MASW）survey as well.
