Abstract: The magnitude and direction of lath martensitic shape strain is firstly measured by a new interference method in this research. The results obtained show that the same habit variant (575)f has two shape strain directions, and measured magnitude of the shape strain is smaller than the one deliberated by Sandivk and Wayman. All experimental data support forecasting of shear-rotation crystallography theory.

Key words: lath martensite, shape strain, martensitic transformation crystallography
