A Fractal Compression Coding Method with Higher Reconstruction Quality

Abstract: Through a relation analysis of paste error and reconstruction error during the process of fractal image compression coding, based on the controlling of error space, the paper presents a decreasing paste error method which need no additional bits (i. e. No change of the compression radio). The error space is effectively reduced, and simultaneously, the reconstruction error reduced and the reconstruction quality increased.Simulation results show that based on the approximately same coding time, the error space is decreased from 0.29~0.37 to 0.01~0.17 and the PSNR of reconstruction image has an increase of 0.513~1.634.
