Abstract:

A new method for measuring the particle velocity based on the gray scale difference and the autocorrelation was proposed from the fact that different exposure time corresponds to different gray scale of particle image point. The flow chart of measuring process and the software algorithm for the image processing were introduced. The numerical simulation and measuring experiment were done and the feasibility of the image processing and its algorithm were validated, showing possibility of simultaneously measuring the velocities of many tracer particles in a flow field.
