Structure and ultracapacitive behavior of nanogate carbons

Abstract:

Nanogate carbons were prepared by KOH activation of raw petroleum coke precursors.The porous structure,crystallite structure,and surface properties were characterized by N2 adsorption-desorption,XRD and XPS respectively.Thecapacitive behavior of the nanogate carbon electrodes showed that nanogate carbons can work under the voltage of 3.5V,and its high capacitance was caused by electrochemical activation in the first charging process.The nanogate carbon sample N900 shows a high capacitance of 136.7F/g with surface area of 61 m2/g,leading to high energy density of 58.1 Wh/kg.
