Abstract: The various methods for maintaining and administrating computer labs are discussed and compared. By deeply analyzing the characteristics of the Ghost, a new method is given. The computer operating systems can be recovered and installed quickly by using the multicast technologies of Ghost in the new method. Compared with those of the existing methods, the workload of the lab maintenance and the time of the recovering computer operating system can be mostly reduced and the utilization of the lab resources can be improved by the new method.
