A Parallel Finite Difference Scheme for Fourth Order Parabolic Equations

Abstract: The present paper presents a parallel finite difference scheme for fourth order parabolic equations. By means of nonsymmetric difference schemes, we split up the space domain into several subdomains for which the solutions can be separately found and the computations can be made in parallel. Furthermore, we constructed group explicit (GE) method, alternating group explicit (AGE) method and alternating section explicit-implicit (ASE-I) method. The last two methods are unconditionally stable. The numerical results show that our methods have good accuracy.
