VM Selection EnergyEfficiency Algorithm Based on HeuristicBackward Artificial Bee Colony Method in Data Clouds

Abstract:

Energyefficiency is a crucial issue in data center. Since dataintensive jobs have the characteristics of frequently reading and writing operations, CPU and RAM utilization rates are considered as two important influencing factors to make energyefficiency evaluation model. Artificial bee colony algorithm and heuristic backward thinking were applied to VM selection phase in VM migration policy to save energy. Compared with MMT,RS and MU algorithms in CloudSim, the proposed VM selection algorithm, ABCS, made energy 20%—25% saved and VM migration frequency less than 5%.
