Abstract: A variable step size least mean square algorithm in smart antennas is presented in this paper. The algorithm is established by introducing a hyperbolic tangent function relation between step size and signal error. The contradiction between the convergence speed and maladjustment error is thus solved. The simulationresults show that the proposed algorithm has faster convergence and smaller maladjustment than standard least mean square algorithm.
Key words: smart antenna, least mean square algorithm, variable step size, hyperbolic tangent function
