Abstract: The adsorption of an endocrine disrupting compound (bisphenol A, BPA) on surface sediments (SSs) and natural surface coating samples (NSCSs) collected in the Songhua River were investigated based on the estabilishment of a rapid detection method of BPA through highperformance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Without preconcentration, the detection limit (MDLs) of BPA by HPLC combined with UV detection at a wavelength of 220 nm was 10 μg/L, and the relative standard deviation (RSD) was 2.6%~5.7%. The addition recovery was in a range of 99.4%~117.8%(n=5). The results indicate that the adsorptionof BPA belongs to a nonlinear one and the adsorption progress fit well to Freundlich and Langmuir isotherms at a significance level of p=0.001 (n=8). Compared with SSs, NSCSs had a better capacity for adsorbing BPA due to its higher organic materials contents.
