Abstract: The synergistic degradation characteristics of 17β-estradiol (E2) by compound bacteria containing Acinetobacter  LM1 and Pseudomonas LY1 were investigated by using pure and simulated culture methods, respectively. The results show that when the cell number ratio was 1, the degradation rate of E2 by compound bacteria was 2.2 and 2.6 times higer than that of strain LM1 and LY1, respectively, and the cell number ratio of strain LM1 and LY1 tended to be 1 in the process of degradation. The degradation rates of E2 with initial mass concentrations of 1,5,10, 20 mg/L compound bacteria were 99.6%,97%,93%, 85% under conditions of 28 ℃ and 150 r/min, respectively. The degradation rate of E2 was significantly decreased by  compound bacteria when the mass fraction of NaCl was 3.5% in the culture media (p<0.05). The degradation rates of E2 in chicken manure, pig manure and soil samples by compound bacteria were 2.7,3.0 and 2.8 times higer than that of the control group at 25 ℃. Therefore, the compound bacteria composed of strains LM1 and LY1 could degrade E2 by synergistic action.
