Abstract: Maca was extracted by oil removing, water extraction and lyophilized. The water extract was mixed with Escherichia coli OP50 broth and diluted to a final mass concentration of 1,2 mg/mL. The antioxidation effect of water extract of Maca on Caenorhabditis elegans was studied with C.elegans as a model. The experiments of lifespan, spawning, swallowing and motor ability show that the water extract of Maca has no obvious toxic effect on nematodes, and 1,2 mg/mL water extract of Maca can significantly prolong the lifespan of nematodes. The water extract of Maca has protective effect on nematode induced by oxidative stress. The oil red O staining shows that the water extract of Maca has a certain effect on lipidlowering.
