Abstract:
We proposed an improved method of shadow volume. This method solves the inefficacy when shadow volume is applied to large scenes by selecting volumes based on octree and fading shadow with z values. Experiments show that our method can effectively cut down the numbers of volumes to render and improve rendering efficiency upon keeping good graphic effect. The result of this paper makes it feasible to render shadows for large scene via shadow volume algorithm.
