Abstract: The traditional fault location method has lower accuracy due to ignoring the change of line parameters. In order to improve accuracy of line fault location, two-terminal asynchronous location is used and total least square method is optimized by Huber robust estimation to reduce the effect of inaccurate line parameter estimation which is resulted from existed error when adopting total least square method. Matlab simulation shows that improved method is more accurate than traditional method in line parameter estimation and fault location accuracy. And the fault location results which are not affected by the fault location and fault type is also verified by simulation.
