Tire longitudinalslip characteristics considering transient vertical load and transient slip ratio

On the basis of the steadystate semiempirical model of the tire and the concepts of the relaxation length and the effective slip ratio, a nonsteady semiempirical model to express the tire longitudinalslip response to the lowfrequency input of the transient vertical load and transient slip ratio was presented. In this model, the dynamic response of the tire was expressed approximately by a series connection of a spring(to represent the translational elasticity) and a steadystate contact model(to represent the contact between tire and road surfaces). The validation shows that the simulation of the tire model agrees with the testing results. The suggested model is compatible with the theoretical boundary conditions, can express the nonsteady longitudinalslip characteristics of the tire, and is characterized by the high precision, the formulation simplicity and the easy application to the vehicle dynamics.

Brush model for steadystate sideslip of tire on icy road

To study the steadystate sideslip characteristics of the tire on the icy road, the friction mechanism between the tire rubber and the icy surface was introduced, the heat conduction was analyzed for the different regions of the contact surface, and a friction model was built for the contact of rubber and icy surface. The model was validated by the test data of the friction factor acquired from a highspeed friction test bench. Using the built friction model and the tire sideslip characteristics, a brush model for the steadystate sideslip of the tire on the icy road was established. The effects of the ice temperature, tire load, vehicle speed, etc.,on the lateral force and the aligning moment of the tire were studied by the model. The experiment results show that the steadystate sideslip characteristics of the tire on the icy road are different from those on the ordinary dry road.

A brake control algorithm of the traction control system based on the selfadjusting wheel acceleration threshold was proposed for the 4×2 vehicles, and a control logic was designed using the relative slip rate of the driving wheel as the primary threshold and the wheel acceleration as the secondary threshold. The simulation was performed using the Matlab/Simulink to study the effect of the selected acceleration on the control result. Based on the effect of different factors on the selection of the acceleration threshold, a tablelookup method to select automatically the acceleration threshold according to different driving conditions was designed and verified by the hardwareintheloop test. The results show that the proposed algorithm can select the optimized acceleration threshold to control effectively the slippage of the driving wheel and improve the vehicle traction performance.

To study the steering characteristic of the multiaxlesteering vehicle(MASV), a virtual prototype model of the dual airchamber hydropneumatic suspension(HPS) system was built by means of the ADAMS/Hydraulics software. The consistency between the simulation results of the prototype model and the test results validated the built model. On its basis, the stiffness characteristics of the dependent and linked HPSs were analyzed, and their effects on the vehicle rolling characteristic were presented. By the simulation of the handling stability to the step input of the steering wheel angle on the virtual prototype of the MASV, the effects of the parameters of the linked HPS system on the steering and the rolling characteristics of the MASV were discussed, providing a theoretical basis for the HPS system design and the improvement of the handling stability of the vehicle.

Frontal crashworthiness of minibus with different collision modes

The vehicle behaviors of three frontal collision modes, including the full frontal collision, the oblique collision, and the offset frontal collision, were discussed. Taking a certain minibus having met the requirement of the full frontal collision as an example, its dynamic response of the structure under 30° oblique collision and 40% offset frontal collision were analyzed by the FEM method according to the requirements of the regulations FMVSS208 and ECER95. Comparing with the simulation results under the full frontal collision, the measures of improving the overall crashworthiness of the minibus and its evaluation parameters were proposed and validated.

Effect of gap between driver cab and freight body of heavyduty

The effects of the gap between the driver cab and the freight body of the heavyduty truck on its aerodynamic characteristics were simulated by means of a simplified truck model ground transportation system(GTS) using the RNG kε turbulence model and hybrid mesh technique. Analysis of the simulated flow fields and the change pattern of the aerodynamic drag coefficients under different gap length demonstrate that when the gap length G≤55% the aerodynamic characteristics change a little, and when G>55% the change becomes larger and larger. The simulation also revealed that adding a cowl on the driver cab of the GTS model improves the aerodynamic characteristics of the truck.

An experimental study on the fuzzy control for the hydrostatic transmission system with the nonlinear and timevarying load was performed,and the experiment results were compared with those of the conventional PID control.The contrast results show that the quality of fuzzy control is better than that of PID control for the hydrostatic transmission of military vehicle. A reference is offered by the study for the purpose of improving the control characteristics of hydrostatic transmission, and it is helpful to the development and application of the hydrostatic transmission in military vehicles.

By reference to the measurement methods for emissions from the vehicles promulgated domestically and abroad, the comparative measurements on the exhaust emissions between the heavyduty hybrid electric bus and the conventional bus were made by means of an onboard exhaust gas analyzer and a chassis test dynamometer for the first time in China. The experiment results validated that the hybrid electric bus emits less exhaust pollutants than the conventional one. Moreover, the experiences about the measurements of the emissions from the havyduty vehicles were accumulated.

The power system of a fuel cell city bus was designed and its experimental study was carried out. The motor power was calculated from the requirements of dynamic performance; an energy hybrid configuration was designed and its main components were selected; and the dynamic performance and fuel economy were tested using an on board performance test system. The test results show that the dynamic performance of this fuel cell city bus can meet the requirements of urban driving, and the fuel economy is better than that of the traditional gasoline bus.

The cyclebycycle variations of the ethanol homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) combustion have been investigated in a single cylinder engine modified from a CA6110 diesel engine. The experiment results show that as the air/fuel ratio increases, all of the cyclebycycle variations of the maximum pressure, the mean indicated pressure, and the combustion duration period increase, but the stand deviation of start of combustion (SOC) decreases. As the intake charge temperature rises, the maximum pressure increases, but the mean indicated pressure increases firstly and then drops, and their cyclebycycle variations decrease; the cyclebycycle variation of the SOC increases, and combustion duration period shortens, its variation decreases. Proper amount EGR inducted can dramatically enhance the combustion rate and decrease the pressure rise rate, but too much EGR would result in unstable even intermittent combustion.

An experimental system of novel controllable active thermoatmosphere combustor (CATAC) was redesigned and applied to study the combustion mechanism of homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) under the condition of lowtemperature oxidation.. The controllable active thermoatmosphere was created by hot product of H2/Air premixed combustion. The system can easily change coflow temperature, oxygen mole fraction and turbulence parameters by changing the coflow mixture equivalence ratio. The experiment results show that the designed CATAC system meets the safety request and design target.

Optimization design of structural size of microchannel cooling heat sink

Aiming at the thermal resistance and pressure drop as two objective functions, the multiobjective optimization model of the microchannel cooling heat sink was built. The sequential quadratic programming (SQP) method was used to optimize the structural sizes of microchannel. The optimization results show that the thermal transfer performance of microchannel cooling heat sinks is affected intensively by their structural shape, and compared with triangle and trapezoid shape, rectangle structure has better thermal transfer performance. Two sets of optimized sizes under two sets of different weighting coefficients were given, and the corresponding width of channel were 130 and 120 μm, and fin width were 176 and 350 μm, and height were 640 and 1000 μm, and the thermal resistance were 0.4857 and 0.5094 K/W, respectively. The numerical simulation of the fluid flow and the thermal transfer of the above optimized structure shows that the highest temperatures of chips were 358.34 and 361.52 K, respectively, meeting the requirement of the chip for the work temperature.

A doubleobjective optimization model for traffic flow guidance coordinated with signal control to dispel traffic congestion and minimize total travel time of the road network was suggested. An index of congestion measurement was introduced in the model algorithm, traffic signal timing was adjusted in short traffic flow steps, the traffic flow was uploaded or downloaded at links by trial optimization, signal control was optimized at intersections, and traffic flow was optimized in the process of its feedback and adjustment. A simulation road network was built by means of the software VISSIM, the coordinated algorithm was tested in the network, and its efficiency was evaluated. The results show that traffic congestion was almost dispelled after 3 coordination intervals and after 4th and 5th coordination the minimization of the total travel time of the system was realized.

The features of collected radiated noise of driving vehicles were extracted by means of the AR parametric model. They were selected by the hypothesis test and classified by the designed BP neural network. 74 signals of two types of vehicle collected on road in situ were analyzed. The results show that it is feasible to realize the automatic vehicle classification by the features of radiated noise extracted by the AR model, and the correctness rate of the classification is higher than 80%.

On the basis of the results obtained from comparison tests of fly ash soils and silty clay on dynamic strength under freezethaw cycles, the dynamic strength was quantitatively analyzed. The test results show that the effect of freezethaw cycles on the dynamic strength of fly ash soils should be considered. After 1 freezethaw cycle, the dynamic strength of fly ash soils decreased greatly, but its decreasing rate is lower than that of silty clay. The dynamic strength of fly ash soils gradually decreases with increasing the number freezethaw cycles. After 4~5 cycles, its strength reaches stability, and the dynamic strength of fly ash soils is still higher than that of silty clay. Thus fly ash soils can be used to weaken the freezing damages on highways.

In order to explore the quantitative evaluating methods of the homogeneity of asphalt mixture, a direct method to investigate the aggregate distribution in the asphalt mixture, i.e. its homogeneity was tried based on the digital image processing(DIP) technique. The investigation results demonstrate that the calculated results based on the DIP are almost the same as those based on the subjective assessment. Based on the DIP technique, the homogeneity of the asphalt mixture can be evaluated quantitatively by the two aggregate distribution parameters, the aggregate number distribution and the aggregate location distribution. The homogeneity of the asphalt mixture can be reflected by its indexes. With the increase of the nominal maximum aggregate size, the homogeneity of the asphalt mixture deteriorates.

By the finite element numerical simulation of multistep forming for sphere surface, its key technology, the behaviors of the forming process were analyzed. The defects liable to happen and the key problems have to be solved in the forming process were explored in detail. The simulation results show that the multistep forming can optimize the deformation path of sheet metal, make the deformation more uniformly, effectively restrain wrinkles and improve the deformation capacity of sheet metal.

Influence of backpressure on conrod big end fracture splitting

A finite element model for the fracture splitting of Jetta car conrod big end was established to analyze the influence of the backpressure on fracture splitting quality. The experiment results show that splitting force will increase as backpressure increases and the relationship is approximately linear. The width of the fractured surface plastic region will be narrowed as backpressure increases, and when backpressure force is over 20 kN, the width will be narrowed slowly. The deformation of the conrod big end bore will increase as the backpressure increases ,and when the backpressure force is under 25 kN, the deformation of the conrod big end bore is within the allowed limits.

The finite element analysis was employed to investigate the welding process of structural steel. Two cases, buttwelded joint and fillet welded Ishaped beam, were considered. The welding temperature field, residual stresses and distortion were analyzed. The results of finite element analysis were verified by the available experiment. The calculation results show that high triaxial residual stresses are introduced by the welding process and the longitudinal residual stress is higher than the transverse one. The influence on the local mechanic property of the structure can not be ignored. However, the overall structural behavior does not have significant differences, since the residual stresses is selfequilibrating.

re absorption ) of an epoxy resin with biphenyl rings and the common epoxy resin (E51) were investigated by addition of a new aromatic amine curing agent with groups ether and ketone. The experimental results show that, by the introduction of the novel curing agent, the heat resistance of the common epoxy resin (E51) is enhanced much better than it used to and the heat resistance and moisture absorption of the epoxy resin with biphenyl rings are significantly improved compared with those of common epoxy resin (E51).

The mechanics evaluation of bonding strength between coating and substrate was performed with finite element method (FEM), and an improved test model was proposed. The maximum shear stress and the maximum tensile stress on the coating and substrate interface were analyzed. The influences of the step depth of model,dimensions of coating and the material properties of coating and substrate on the interface bonding strength of coatingsubstrate were compared and an optimum model was selected. The maximum tensile stress was obviously decreased in this model, and then the change of shear stress in different systems can be distinctly shown. Subsequently, the interface bonding strength in different systems was investigated.

Based on the graphical user interfaces in MATLAB, the artificial neural network was used to predict the hardness,adhesion and impact resistance of the polyacrylate emulsion. A back propagation network with three layers was selected to discuss the effects of the number of the hidden layer node, the value of the training goal and transfer functions on the prediction results. When the number of the hidden layer node was 19, 16 and 20, respectively, transfer functions were logsig function and purelin function, and the value of training goal was 1.0×10-5, 17 samples were predicted. The results show that the average absolute value of relative errors between predictive and measured values of hardness is 5.90%, the prediction accuracies of adhesion and impact resistance are 100%.

In order to measure and study the electricity generating performance of the piezoelectric ceramics(PEC), a measuring system for the electricity generating capacity of the PEC was developed. According to the indexes of the electricity generating performance and their affecting factors, a system with a Hall displacement transducer and a charge amplifier to measure the vibration amplitude of the PEC and the quantity of electric charge was developed. A data acquisition software was compiled to process and display the measured data. The developed system provides a test analysis platform for the study of the effects of the size parameters of the PEC and the frequency and the amplitude of the external excitation on the electricity generating capacity of the PEC.

A micropump with unique structure and working principle for the insulin injection actuated by the piezoelectric unimorph was proposed. The pump prototype was designed and manufactured in the laboratory. To realize the structure miniaturization and output precision, the lamination of piezoelectric elements and the series connecting multichamber configuration were adopted. Systematic experiments on the prototype demonstrate that the proposed piezoelectric micropump is characterized by stable operation capability, easy to adjust the injection dose, adapted to miniaturization and implantable application. The micropump prototype overall dimensions are 16.5 mm×60 mm, the maximal output flow rate is 3 mL/min with the maximal pressure of 22 kPa under the 36 V sinusoidal wave driving voltage at 200 Hz, the minimal output flow per pulse is 7.5×10-5mL.

Theoretical analysis and validation on structure size of rolling screw roller

A new concept roller, the rolling screw roller was suggested based on the theoretical analysis, and the relation between its structure sizes and distortion energy was identified. The gaps all over the new type roller can absorb more impact energy than that absorbed by the conventional roller and improve the resistance against the multicycle impact under highspeed operation to avoid its early fracture. The fatigue test and noise test validated the superiority of the suggested rolling screw roller.

Relation between Miner theory and probability accumulation theory

There are two classical theories in the field of fatigue reliability—the Miner theory and the probability accumulation theory, they are widely used and their correlation is still obscure. On the basis of the literature\[1\], through the mathematical derivation and the example calculation, it was proved that if the fatigue life obeys the lognormal distribution, the Miner theory is a special case of the probability accumulation theory. It is the first demonstration of the relation between these two theories, being of help to development of the fatigue reliability theory and improvement of its calculation method.

To alleviate the problem of low machining effeciency for the freeform surface, according to the computer graphical information and the constitution feature of NURBS surface,a new algorithm of freeform surface subdivision planning was presented by means of the combination of the curvature based method and the fuzzy Cmeans method.The algorithm split freeform surface into surface pieces which were classified into a series of surface piece families with same or similar surface information and technological characteristics, namely clustering curved surface piece race. The simulation and experiment results show that the subdivision algorithm can split the freeform surface perfectly, and the polishing efficiency can be promoted according to clustering curved surface piece race.

To overcome the shortcoming of the linear and nonlinear calibration in the processing of camera calibration,the 2D pixels information was deduced based on the foregone 3D information, a new intelligent calibration algorithm was presented based on neural network and an improved BP network model was constructed, and pixels point errors in twosort calibration methods were compared. The experiment results indicate that the improved BP network model can avoid nonlinear modeling and enhance the calibration precision and the flexibility, which has real significance.

:Considering a linear uncertain system with missing measurements a moving horizon estimation (MHE) strategy was proposed. Based on the probability of occurrence of missing measurements, the initial state and disturbance were estimated by minimizing performance object at sample time, and then the estimation value was calculated by dynamic equation of the system. The simulation results show that MHE can solve the constrained linear system and has more effective estimation performance compared with Kalman filter strategy.

The evolution strategies (ES) were applied in RaoBlackwellized particle filter (RBPF) by using the adaptive resampling scheme to implement indoor mobile robot simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM). A robust observation model with only monocular vision and odometer was constructed. And invariant feature transform (SITF) was used to extract image features served as the nature landmarks updated through Unscented Kalman filter (UKF) in environment map. A fast algorithm for matching multidimension features in a KDTree was presented. Experiments on a real Pioneer 3 robot show that the proposed method is feasible.

Finally, a prototype system JLGridFlow implemented on the Globus and the experiment of downloading big file were introduced.

Then the concept of inverse SEtree (ISEtree) was put forward, and an ISEtree based method (CSISEtree) for deriving all MCSs was presented as well. Finally, several methods proposed in this paper were compared, and they can all be used to generate all minimal hitting sets, and compute both prime implicants and prime implicates.

Based on the different activities of user intention in Web initiative services, a hybrid intelligent algorithm to discover and distinguish user intention was presented. The preference learning with vSVC provided effective preference recognition and role selection for user intention. The concept hierarchy algorithm was used to conceptualize the user service attributes, thus to find the focus point of service. Fuzzy clustering method was used to identify the service quality and grade expected by the users.The experiment results show that hybrid mining is effective and applicable in intention recognition.

A randomized approximation algorithm for the set cover problem was proposed. Given a collection S of subsets of E={e1,e2,…,en} with weights on the subsets, the goal of the weighted set cover problem is to cover all the elements of E by picking a subset with the minimum total cost from S .For each uncovered element of the set E, a subset which contains the element was chosen with a certain elaborately designed probability distribution. The algorithm will not terminate until all the elements have been covered. The proposed algorithm computes a cover whose expected cost is at most B·opt where opt is the cost of some optimal cover for the problem, where B=maxe∈E{|L(e)|} and L(e)={s|e∈s,s∈S}. The running time of the algorithm is O(n) where n is the cardinality of E.

A new technique for the camera system calibration was proposed firstly, the 2D image with aberration was rectified, then, the rectified image was used to calibrate the camera system with the linear model. The theoretical basis and the solving procedure of the proposed calibration technique were presented, and the comparative experiments among the new method, linear calibration method and the twostep method were performed. The results showed that the proposed technique can quickly, conveniently and accurately calibrate the camera system without the need for the precalibration procedure.

The neural network(NN) ensemble was adopted into the field of the structual damage detection and the grey clustering(GC) technique was employed to cluster all individual NN models and integrate the part of the NNs obtained with bigger differences to enhance the differences and the generalization ability of the NN. The experiment results show that the GC based NN ensemble method is feasible and superior to the traditional NN models.

A new method for automatically generating pencil drawings from real 2D color images was proposed. First, the color image was sharpen by Unsharp Mask(USM), then color scaling was used to get an image with radial and edge details. Second, the line integral convolution (LIC) algorithm was used to get better effects of illumination and local texture of pencil drawing, and the image segment was applied to gain the significant areas. Finally, the satisfactory pencil drawings was gained by overlaying and transparentizing the edge details and the result of LIC. The experiment results show that the proposed method can generate effects closer to real pencil drawings, and it is a faster algorithm.

Based on the transmission theory of the arrayed waveguide grating (AWG), the parameter optimization was performed, and the effect of arrayed waveguides bending on transmission characteristics was analyzed for a 33×33 polymeric AWG multiplexer around the central wavelength of 1550.918 nm with the wavelength spacing of 0.8 nm. The analytical results show that the bending of arrayed waveguides causes the phase shift of the light propagating in the AWG, results in the shift of the transmission spectrum, and brings about the variation of the crosstalk. For the designed AWG device, the shift of the transmission spectrum is about 0.01 nm, which is much less than the wavelength spacing of 0.8 nm, and the variation of crosstalk is also little.

In order to solve the problem of speech enhancement in impulsive noise, on the basis of signal subspace decomposition without speech model, a multiinput speech enhancement algorithm was presented. Using covariation concept in array signal processing, the proposed algorithm can obtain clean speech signal subspace by eigendecomposition of the covariation coefficient matrix of speech signal corrupted by impulsive noise. Simulation results show that the algorithm is effective to reduce the impacts of impulse noise, white Gaussian noise and Gaussian colored noise.

According to the different frequency areas decomposed by Curvelet transform, the selection principles of the low frequency coefficients and the high frequency coefficients were discussed respectively. In choosing the low frequency coefficient, the concept of the local area standard deviation was defined and a scheme combining the “selection” and the “average” methods was employed. In choosing the high frequency coefficient,taking the advantage of the directional sensitivity characteristic of the Curvelet transform, the concept of directional contrast in the Curvelet domain was defined and a selection principle based on the direction contrast was presented. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can extract all useful information from the original images and make all targets in the fused images very clear.

The data transition tracking loop (DTTL) can not obtain good performance pseudonoise(PN) timing recovery under the condition of small symbol signaltonoise ratio (SNR).To overcome this shortcoming, a novel chip tracking loop (CTL) was adopted. The mean square timing jitter performance of the CTL and the DTTL for MSK waveform PN code was analyzed in a wide range of symbol SNR. The simulation results show that the same performance can be obtained by the DTTL and the CTL at large symbol SNR environment, while in small symbol SNR environment the performance of the CTL is better than that of the DTTL.

The metal magnetic memory technique was used to develop a detection system for the borehole casing pipe.The system collects the magnetic memory signals liberated from the stress concentration zone of the inuse borehole casing pipe,judges fast and correctly the state of the zone.Based on the energy operator Teager of the wavelet coefficients,the energy of the decomposed magnetic memory signals was increased.Using the signal singularity detection theory of the wavelet transform,combining the observation on the multidimensional transform results and the in Russia patented(gradient) technique,the selfadaptive wavelet noise suppression of the signal was realized and the characteristic gradient of the magnetic memory was extracted.The experiment results proved the validity and feasibility of the proposed technique.

A simple decoding algorithm for SFBCOFDM system was proposed on the basis of channel correlation in OFDM systems. The proposed algorithm only needs a few pilots to estimate channel and decode, and it requires no channel estimation when QPSK modulation was used. The simulation results demonstrate that the presented algorithm is similar to differential detection scheme, and has only 3 dB penalty when compared with coherent detection method, however, the diversity gain can be obtained and computation complexity is obviously reduced.

Rhodiola sachalinensis was treated in cellulase and ethanol solution, the leaching rate of total flavones was measured under different treatment conditions. The extraction effects of different methods and the DPPH radical scavenging activities of the crude extracts were compared. Experiment results show that the optimum extraction parameters are:36% volume fraction of ethanol, 2.0% dry weight of cellulase, liquid to solid ratio of 52∶1,pH 5.5, enzyme digestion temperature of 50 ℃ and extraction time of 5 h. Under such conditions the leaching rate of total flavones is up to 7.144%.The cellulaseethanol extraction method shows high effectiveness, the crude extract has the highest yield with stronger DPPH radical scavenging activity.

The measurement of the electrical conductivity(EC) of the substrate in the greenhouse was performed by a portable realtime EC detector based on the electrical currentvoltage foureelectrode method and its results were discussed. At the condition of constant salt content(total ion content), if the water mass fraction in the substrate is lower than 50%,its EC is determined by both the salinity and the moisture of the substrate.When the water mass fraction is higher than 50%,its EC is determined only by the total ion content without connection with the moisture.When the water mass fraction is set at 65%,the EC detector indicates a power function relation between the detector output and the substrate EC,and the correlation factor of the proposed model reaches 0.970.When the water mass fraction of the substrate is about 45%,its EC can be predicted accurately by both the power function as well as the linear function models.
