Design of bus priority signal considering flexible lane setting

Abstract:

By considering the flexible lane setting, the vehicle and pedestrian delay analysis is carried out for the bus priority intersection with left-turn phase, combined with the pre-signal system. The design is adopted at an intersection to analyze the arrival and departure process of vehicles at the main signal and pre-signal, and calculate the delay changes of buses, straight social vehicles and left-turn vehicles before and after flexible lane setting. The results show that after a flexible lane setting is adopted at an entrance of a bus priority intersection with a left-turn phase, when the intersection is saturated, the bus delay is significantly reduced. The delay of left-turn vehicles and the total delay of straight vehicles are both reduced.
