Determination of the best separation factor for power-split hybrid electric vehicle based on instantaneous efficiency

Abstract: This paper describes a three-step iteration method for determining the best separation factor of power-split hybrid electric vehicle based on system instantaneous efficiency. The function of the relationship between the best separation factor and the vehicle speed and power demand is obtained. Then the instantaneous optimal control algorithm of power-split hybrid electric vehicles is developed based on the best separation factor. As compared to the control algorithm based on the engine optimal curve, economical efficiency of the instantaneous optimal control algorithm based on optimal separation factor of system is improved significantly.
