Determination of the asphalt film thickness of asphalt mixture

Abstract:

Based on the analysis of the traditional way of ascertaining asphalt mixture mineral surface-coefficient as well as the practical measuring of mineral powder and aggregate surface area plus a reasonable derivation of its area coefficient,a new way to ascertain the area of asphalt mixture aggregate was proposed,and a formula that can be used to calculate the surface area was given.The existing determination methods of the asphalt film thickness of asphalt mixture were investigated,and a corrected calculating formula was developed.A series of practice has proved that this method can better reflect the real condition of surface area.Therefore,the accuracy of calculating asphalt film thickness can be guaranteed.The result is significant for the design of the asphalt mixture proportions.
