Characteristics and experiments study on traveling motor of excavator with a balance valve

Abstract: The hydraulic braking characteristic of motor is improved with establishing simulation model of balance valve and traveling motor hydraulic system. The influence parameters, such as conical degree of main poppet, diameter of orifice with fluid resistance, volume of sensitive chamber, spring stiffness, and mass of valve core, are investigated through simulation. Through no-load speed and pressure shock tests,the simulation and test results shows that the effect of spool mass can be neglected, and but reducing diameter of fluid resistance and spring stiffness extend hydraulic braking time of motor. The practical hydraulic barking time of motor is 0.8s and the braking pressure of motor is 1.2MPa. The result of experiment basically tallies with the theoretically analyses.
