Studies on Electrosynthesis of Para Quinone in an Undivided Electrolytic Cell

Abstract: In an undivided electrolytic cell and with benzene as the starting materi al,Cu2+ ions as electrolytic medium, Cu as the anode materi al and graphite as the cathode material, the synthesis of para quinone via the indirect electrooxidation of benzen e was studied. The experimental results demonstrate that the yield of electrolyt ic products para quinone and current efficiency were higher than the corresponding ones for direct electrooxidation of benzene in the divided electr olytic cell.
