Abstract: This paper discusses the design and applicati on issues in the process of building database system YMDBS by virture of UML techniques. With the help of a powerful CASE tool__PowerDesigner, we demonstrate the key techniques involving database implementation from three aspects: object oriented data modeling conceptual data modeling, and physical data modeling. The database system is a key part of the national 863 project “Multi-media Intelligence System for Maize Production”.
