Abstract: An embedded system with multiple digital signal processors (DSP) based on a digital signal processor/basic input output system (DSP/BIOS), which is a kind of real-time operating system, for corona detection via double spectral method was introduced. Multiple tasks in the corona detection were processed via a multiple threads technology to develop the system. Sensors’ control data and image data were processed respectively and many tasks in corona detection were processed smoothly and real-timely on this system. Both hardware and software of the system were introduced. Real-time corona detectionvia its solarblind ultraviolet image and corona location via background’s visible image were realized by means of this system with small cube, high real-time ability, easyexpanding characteristics and high reliability. It is b etter than the other embedded system based on DSP without DSP/BIOS in the as pects of reliability and realtime ability. For the system is based on DSP/BIOS, it is convenient to expand the system via development tools and make it suitable for multiplesensor systems, such as supervising system, detecting system and etc.

Key words: information fusion, realtime operating system (RTOS ), multithread technology, double spectral imaging detection
