Abstract: According to the oxidative damage theory of aging, free radicals, particularly reactive oxygen species (ROS), are responsible for the senescence and many human diseases. ROS are generated during normal metabolic process in all the oxygenutilizing organisms. They are detoxified by superoxide dismutase. The manganesecontaining superoxide dimutase 3 (SOD3) has been shown to play a role in the aging process in  Caenorhabditis elegans. In this research, we show that sod-3 RNA interference (RNAi) inducesinsenecencein Caenorhabditis elegansas expected. This method can be used to understand the process of aging and the mechanism of antioxidance.
