Synthesis and Characterization of Polyarylene Sulfide Sulfone/Ketone Amide

Abstract: Diamine monomers containing sulfone or ketone group were synthesized firstly, then polyarylene sulfide sulfone amide (PASSA) and polyarylene sulfide ketone amide (PASKA) with high molecular weight were synthesized by a low temperature polycondensation reaction in anhydrous N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP). The structures of the monomers and the polymers were identified by IRspectra and UV spectra. The maximum intrinsic viscosities of the PASSA and PASKA are 0.72 dL/g in NMP and 0.62 dL/g in H2SO4 respectively. The polymers possess excellentthermal properties with the glass transition temperatures (Tg) of[KG*2]279.9 ℃ and 188.7 ℃ for PASSA and PASKA respectively, the initial degradation temperatures (Ti) of PASSA and PASKA are 461.5 ℃ and 467.08 ℃ respectively which suggests that PASSA and PASKA are novel heatresistantmaterials. And the deliquescent experiments show that PASSA and PASKA are also corrosion resistance materials.
