Preparation and Test on Er3+Doped Polymer Optical Waveguide Amplifier

Abstract: The optical properties of an erbium\|doped polymer material Er(DBM)3Phen/PMMA\|GMA were researched and its absorption spectrum, refractive index and other parameters were also tested. An erbium\|doped organic polymer waveguide amplifier was fabricated by means of photolithography combined with reactive ions etching. Then the characteristics of the optical waveguide amplifier were tested by coupling the signal light and pump light into the waveguide directly. When the pump power was 150 mW and the signal power was 0.2 mW, the maximum relative gain of approximate 0.9 dB was observed on the device with a length of 1.24 cm.
