Abstract:

The electrochemical behavior of the corrosion inhibition performance of an inhibitor containing octadecylamine (ODA) to carbon steel was studied. The corrosion resistance of a mild steel tube treated by the inhibitor was improved. The effect of film formation in vapour phase is better than that in liquid phase. As the surface roughness increased, the resistance turned lower. The optimum temperature was around 220 ℃ in a range of 0~260 ℃. As the inhibitor’s concentration increased the specimen’s resistance was getting high, but the resistance remained unchanging when the inhibitor’s concentration got more than 25 mg/L.
