One-Dimensional New Function Photon Crystals

Abstract:

The authors  proposed a concept of new function photon crystals, the  refractive index of which is a function of space position.  The light motion equation in one-dimensional function photon crystals was obtained by means of Fermat principle,  and  the transmission matrix was obtained via calculation, with  the dispersion relation, band gap structure and transmissivity given. The more wide and more narrow band gap structure than conventional photon crystals were obtained by choosing different distribution function n(z) of refractive index.
