Some Impact Factors of Generation Rules of Hydroxyl Radicals in O3/UV System

Abstract: O3/UV process is a kind of AOPs, which combined O3 with ultraviolet radiation, under the radiation of UV, O3 is accelerated its decompounding course remarkably, and generated the strong oxidant hydroxyl radicals in solution. High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and fluorescence detector was used to determine salicylic acid (SA) and one of its hydroxylated products, 2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid (2,5-DHBA), in this way, hydroxyl radicals was determined indirectly. Through the determination of the 2,5-DHBA at different reacting times, pH values and initial concentrations of SA, effect of these factors on the generation rules of hydroxyl radicals were investigated in O3/UV process.
