Abstract:

To sutdy the enhancing effect of blending fiber to the fly ash soil, the polypropylene fiber was chosen as the reinforcement additive to the fly ash soil to improve its brittle failure resistance. The filer was randomly blended into the fly ash soil at 5 different mass fractions(0.5%,1%,2%,3%,4%) to prepare 6 groups of samples including the baseline pure fly ash soil sample. These samples were subjected to the side unconfined compression test. The test results show that blending the fiber leads to enhancement of the toughness and the unconfined compression strength of the fly ash soil samples. The mechanical properties of the fiber reinforced fly ash soil appear the best at fiber mass fraction of 1%.
