Abstract: A soft contact mathematic model of a rigid ball on PDMS disc under lubricated condition was established, and the processed measuring results of surface roughness were coupled into this model. According to the characteristics of different lubrication regions, a friction model for the nominal contact region was established. The effectiveness of the model was verified by present experiments, and the influence of surface roughness on soft contact under different lubricated conditions was analyzed. It was found that the friction coefficient increases at a lower value of μη (the product of entrainment velocity multiplies viscosity) as a consequence of overpressure generated by the interaction between lubricant flow and contacting asperities.
