Numerical control system information integration method based on agent

Abstract: To realize remote monitoring and management of manufacturing equipments, a method of information integration of Numerical Control (NC) equipments was proposed, which included interconnection architecture, information model for devices and workflow of information interchange. Machine tools were connected to internet through agents. A container based hierarchical unified information model was proposed to organize the heterogeneous data from variety machine tools and sensors. The information was transmitted over an internet protocol. A remote monitoring and managing system in accordance with the method was designed and implemented. The system was tested through visualization of manufacturing process and statistics of the overall equipment efficiency. The results demonstrate that the proposed method is a reliable and extensible solution for manufacturing information integration.
