Link segmenting model of road network for the travel time collection based on GPS

Abstract:

Aiming at the problem that the turning travel time could not be collected based on the traditional link concept with an illegible border, a new link segmenting method was proposed to improve the performance of the travel time collection system based on GPS/GIS probe vehicle. The concepts of directional link and directional membership link were defined and an abstractive link segmenting model with clear direction and exact entrance was developed, which would be applicable for all kinds of roads in urban area. Furthermore, a method for data organization of the directional links also designed.
