Abstract: The biosorption of Cd2+ and Pb2+ onto the dominant dead bacteria in the Yitong River and the effects of temperature, initial pH, initial metal ions and bacteria biomass on the biosorption were investigated. The results show that bacteria biomass had more influence on Pb2+ biosorption than on Cd2+ biosorption. The bacteria show the highest Pb2+ uptake capacities at an initial pH value of 4.5, and show the highest Cd2+ uptake capacities at an initial pH value of 6.0. The bacteria exhibited the highest Pb2+ and Cd2+ uptake capacities at 30 ℃. The concomitant Pb2+ had no considerable effect on the biosorption of Cd2+, and the concomitant Cd2+ had a considerable effect on the biosorption of Pb2+.

Key words: dominant bacteria, Cd2+, Pb2+, biosorption amount, concomitant metal ion
