Abstract: With SnCl4·5H2O, Sb2O3 and Gd(NO33 as the raw material, the SnO2/Sb DSA electrodes doped Gd were prepared by Dip coating method and sol-gel method. Taking phenol as model substrate, the electro-catalytic characteristics of prepared anodes and the relationship between the electro-cata lytic ability and the electrodes structure were investigated. The micrographs, t he crystal structure, the chemical environments of elements and element content on the surface of electrodes were analyzed by SEM, XRD, XPS and EDX. Results il lustrated that the size of SnO2 crystal particle prepared with sol- gel method is owing to nanometer-size. The crystal particle of electrodes surfac e was integrity and the cracks on the electrode surface were very few and small. Sol-gel method is benefit to come together of the amounts of SnO2, G d2O3 and the oxygen vacancy in SnO2 crystal lattice, and resulting in the variation o f electro-catalytic characteristics of DSA electrodes.
