Abstract: Dozens of water samples were taken from typical rivers in Jilin Province at different periods in 2005 and 2006, and the permanganate value(PV), chemical oxygen demand(COD) and total organic carbon(TOC) values were measured separately. The quantitative relationship models between PV and TOC, COD and TOC, COD and PV of typical rivers in Jilin Province at different periods were established via linear regression obtained with least square method and the correlation test was carried out. The results indicate that there are significant linear correlation between PV and TOC, COD and TOC, COD and PV values of these rivers water samples at different periods. There are differences in the relationships between PV and TOC, COD and TOC, COD and PV of these rivers at different periods.
