Abstract: The effects of organic reagents on the emission signals of element and plasma parameters (rotational temperature, excitation temperature and electron density) when they had been introduced in the lower power argon microwave plasma torch (ArMPTAES) were investigated. The discharge characteristics of plasma, especially excitation temperature, were evidently changed owing to the introduction of organic reagents. With the introduction of organic reagents studied, the spectral intensities of atomic emission lines were improved to some extent, but those of ion emission lines were obviously restrained.
