Abstract:
This work focuses on the analysis and study of the effects of substitution (addition) in Mg60Ni25Gd15-xNdx(x=0,7.5,15) and (Mg60Ni25Gd15)100-xMx(M=Fe or Co)(x=0,3,5) amorphous alloys melt\|spun ribbon on their properties including glass\|forming ability (GFA) and thermostability. The substitution of Gd with Nd enhanced the GFA and thermostability. The former disadvantage of only caring about the improvement of GFA and neglecting the thermostability was conquered. The positive heat of mixing between Fe or Co and main components resulted in the decrease of GFA and thermostability.
Key words: Mg-based amorphous alloy; , glass\, forming ability; , thermostability
