Abstract: Objective To investigate the expression of Prohibitin as well as its correlation with the pathological characteristics of gastric cancer(GC). Methods Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of Prohibitin in 103 cases of mucous membrane，60 cases of gastric cancer,25 cases of lesion precancerous,18 cases of benign lesion.The correlations between Prohibitin expression and the clinical, pathological characteristics were analyzed by statistical method. Results The positive expression of Prohibitin in gastric mucosa lesion was in cytoplasm and mostly located in cells at the bottom of gland body.But in gastric cancer,it was found in region with incomplete structure.The expression positive rates of Prohibitin in gastric cancer,precancerous lesion and benign lesion were 68.33%（41/60）,88.00%（22/25）and 88.89%（16/18）separately.The expression of Prohibitin was significantly higher in benign lesion than that in gastric cancer (P=0.006),but there was no difference in the expression of Prohibitin between benign lesion and precancerous lesion (P=0.232).The expression of Prohibitin had no marked correlation with the degree of differentiation. Conclusion The Prohibitin has different expressions during the developing of gastric cancer.It is showed that the detection of Prohibitin protein in gastric lesion tissue has the chinical value for diagnosis of gastric cancer.
