Journal of Jilin University (Medicine Edition) (former Journal of Bethune Medical University) is an academic journal in comprehensive medical and health under the supervision of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and sponsored by Jilin University. It was founded in 1959, ceased publication in 1966, and resumed publication in 1975 under the name 'Journal of Jilin Medical University'. In 1978, with the university's name change, the journal was renamed Journal of Bethune Medical University. In 2000, Bethune Medical University merged with the former Jilin University, Jilin University of Technology, Changchun University of Science and Technology, and Changchun Institute of Posts and Telecommunications to constitute the new Jilin University. In 2002, this journal was renamed Journal of Jilin University (Medicine Edition). After more than 60 years of development, this journal has now become a scientific publication with significant reputation and influence both domestically and internationally.

This journal aims at 'respecting science, encouraging innovation, promoting academia, and pursuing excellence'. We adhere to the national publishing policies and regulations, reporting new theories, methods, and technologies in medical research, and facilitating the development of medical science and academic exchanges at home and abroad, striving to improve the academic and editorial quality of the journal. The target readers of this magazine are mainly medical researchers, medical school teachers and students, medical and health professionals, and related personnel.

 Journal of Jilin University (Medicine Edition) is now a bimonthly publication. Columns include Basic Research, Clinical Research, Clinical Medicine, Imaging, Survey Research, Methodology, and Review. Approximately 220 articles are published in each year, with funding projects accounting for over 95% of all articles. A large proportion of these article are funded by national key scientific and technological research projects, the National 863 Program, the National 973 Program, and the National Natural Science Foundation.

 Journal of Jilin University (Medicine Edition) has won the following honors: the Ministry of Education's China Excellent Science and Technology University Journal Award, the Ministry of Education's China Science and Technology Online Excellent Journal First Prize, the Ministry of Education's China Science and Technology University Journal Excellent Team, the Jilin Provincial Excellence Award for Science and Technology University Journal, the Jilin Province Press and Publication Excellent Collective Award, and the Jilin Province Famous Journal.

The editorial board of Journal of Jilin University (Medicine Edition) serves as the academic guidance body for editorial and publishing endeavors, as well as the decision-making authority for the publication's guiding principles. Currently, it comprises 1 chairman, 10 vice chairmen, 64 members, 10 advisory members, and 4 foreign members, all of whom are leading academics in their respective disciplines within the medical sciences research field, having achieved significant research outcomes. Notably, 95% of these members serve as doctoral supervisors.

The editorial office of Journal of Jilin University (Medicine Edition) currently has 6 full-time editors (2 with PhD, 4 with Master degree, 3 senior editors, 1 associate senior editor, and 2 editors), all of whom have engaged in teaching, research, and clinical work in different fields such as basic medicine, clinical medicine, preventive medicine, and pharmaceutical information research, and have extensive professional theoretical knowledge and publishing experience.

On the basis of resource sharing and cooperation, Journal of Jilin University (Medicine Edition) endeavors to take advantages of interdisciplinary joint publication, expand the field of articles, diversify the columns and article types, increase information capacity, broaden dissemination channels, improve reporting timeliness, enlarge academic scope, strengthen international cooperation, and strive to serve the science community.
