Guide to Authors
Journal of Jilin University (Medicine Edition) is a comprehensive academic journal in medicine and health, governed by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and sponsored by Jilin University. The columns include Basic Research, Clinical Research, Clinical Medicine, Imaging, Survey Research, Methodology, and Review. The main publishing focus is on basic research and clinical research articles. Review articles are generally from invited submissions.
1. Academic and Ethical Requirement: Manuscripts must be medical scientific research articles that have not been published and have high academic value. In addition, manuscripts should be scientific, innovative, and practical, with concise wording, clear hierarchy, strong arguments, reliable evidence, accurate data, and standardized and readable charts. Contributions should be supported by provincial or higher-level funding projects (priority given to articles funded by national projects). According to the Copyright Law, the responsibility for writing shall be borne by the authors. This journal has right to make deletions and modifications to accepted manuscripts. If a structural modification changes the original meaning, we will confirm it with authors. If authors do not approve any deletion or modification, please make a statement upon submission. This journal has been included in numerous domestic and foreign abstract journals and databases (see 'About Us'). If authors do not agree to the inclusion of databases, please declare it upon submission, otherwise it will be deemed as agreed that your article could be indexed by databases, distributed online or compiled by abstract journals. Authors should adhere to scientific integrity and avoid multiple submissions, academic misconduct, disputed authorship, and confidential breach. After the manuscript is accepted, it is not allowed to change the authorship. When the manuscript is based on human trials, it should be approved by the ethics committee of the first author's affiliation with informed consent from subjects obtained. Relevant information should be indicated in the article. Manuscripts involving animal experiments must comply with relevant ethical requirements.
2. Submission Method: Authors should visit the official website of Journal of Jilin University (Medicine Edition) (http://xuebao.jlu.edu.cn/yxb/) for online submission. Accepted manuscripts will be arranged for publishing according to their funding project level and submission time. Manuscripts that fail to pass our review will be rejected, and the reasons for rejection will be explained. Manuscripts that have not been returned more than 2 months after the revision deadline will be considered as withdrawn. The Editorial Office shall notify the authors of the review results within three months after receiving the manuscript (except for manuscripts with controversial review results or involved in interdisciplinary subject that needs to be reviewed by experts from different fields). Authors can check the status of the manuscript through the online submission system, WeChat official account or phone call.
3. Fees: Upon submission, a review fee of RMB 100 yuan per article shall be charged. After acceptance, an APC shall be charged based on the number of pages. The charging standard is RMB 240 yuan per page. Payment status will not influence review process or decision making. After publishing (except for conference papers or otherwise agreed), a remuneration will be paid (including CD and online version fees), and the current issue will be posted to authors.
4. Format Requirement: Each manuscript should include title, author names, affiliations (specific to department or office), countries, regions, and postal codes, Chinese and English abstracts and keywords, China Library Classification code, main text (including introduction, materials and methods, results, and discussion), references, the full title of funding organization and funding project number, first author profile (name, year of birth, gender, place of origin, professional title, degree, and main research direction), corresponding author information (name, professional title, whether a master's or doctoral supervisor or not, and email). The funding information, first author profile, and corresponding author information should be placed at the footer of the title page. Article length (including charts): 6000 to 10000 Chinese characters for basic and clinical research articles; 6000 to 8000 Chinese characters for clinical medicine, imaging, survey research, and methodology articles; and 8000 to 10000 Chinese characters for review articles.
5. Abstracts, Keywords, and CLC Code: Abstracts of research articles should adopt a structured format, including objective, methods, results, and conclusions, with a recommended length of 600-1000 Chinese characters. Abstracts of review articles should adopt a reporting-indicative style, for which the structured format is not necessary and the wordcount should be between 400 and 600 Chinese characters. 5-8 keywords should be selected, preferably from MeSH. The English abstract and keywords must correspond to the Chinese version. A Chinese Library Classification (CLC) Code should be indicated for each manuscript.
6. Quantities, Units, and Symbols: Physical quantities, units, and symbols used in manuscript must comply with the latest edition of national standards. For foreign letters, uppercase and lowercase letters, as well as regular and italic fonts, should not be confused. Positions of superscript and subscript characters should be distinct. Foreign letters and symbols that are easily confused should be specifically marked when they first appear.
7. Tables and Figures: Tables should be with three-line style and inserted in the text, and the table content should not be redundant. The content of statistical charts (line charts, bar charts, and scatter plots) should not duplicate the content of tables or main body text, and the ratio of the vertical and horizontal axes should be 5:7. Color photos should be clear. Black and white photos should have a sharp contrast. Observation targets should be marked with arrows.
8. References: Manuscripts should be supported by necessary and relative citations from newly published literature.
