Optimized determination method of hybrid electric vehicle engine based on high frequency working area

Abstract: A statistic method of power requirement of engine in High Working Frequency Area (HWFA) is proposed. The power requirements of the engine in different typical driving cycles are statistically analyzed. The weighting function of the interval of the engine efficiency, Dm, is defined according to the power requirement. Then the degree of engine working efficiency in typical driving cycles is calculated based on the weighting function and efficiency function. The more suitable engine for Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) can be determined by taking Dm as index. Through simulation analysis and testing, the most economic engine was chosen from the optional engines.
