Improvement of classical numerical method for arterial road signal coordinate control

Abstract:

The classical numerical method for the arterial road coordinate control was analyzed in detail, revealing the deficiency of the classical method. The improved calculating methods of the green wave bandwidth and the signal phase shift at the road intersection, and the best match method of the real and the ideal intersections were proposed. The case examples demonstrate that the improved numerical method gives more accurate widest possible green wave bandwidth and more accurate signal phase shift in the arterial road coordinate control system.
