Minimum cycle length of twophase road intersection

Abstract:

Based on the probability theory and the queuing theory introducing a concept of lost time of saturated releasing, the classical model of motorcade analysis was improved, and a model of vehicle average delay was proposed to seek the minimum signal cycle duration of the 2phase equalweight road intersection from the angle of traffic efficiency. By comparing the average vehicle delay under nonsignalized road intersection with that of the signalized one, choosing the control with less delay as the optimal control, the critical traffic flow for setting the signal at road intersection was obtained. Based on this and considering the restriction of the minimum green time, the minimum signal cycle duration was achieved after adopting the 2phase signal control for 3 common control patterns without signal overlapping.
