Tradeoff between energy consumption and reliability in WSN

Abstract:

In this paper, the energy consumption and reliability of Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) are analyzed first. Then the asymmetric Cournot model of multiplant firms is employed for spatial game playing of nodes. Finally a tradeoff is made between data redundancy and energy efficiency. Theoretical analysis shows that, under given restraint, there exists a Nash Equilibrium in this model. A method is also given to compute the data transmitting strategy according to the redundancy threshold. Simulations demonstrate the feasibility of this method, which can take the redundancy under control meanwhile reduce the node transmitting load, hence prolong the node lifetime.
