Abstract:

The tribological characteristics of MoS2/PTFE composite versus quarty glass under water lubrication, low speed and higher load were in vestigaled on the type M-200 friction and wear tester. It was found that the friction factor between MoS2/PTFE composite and quarty glass is lower than 0.005 under water lubrication, demonstrating the ultra lubrication behavior with stable friction factor and low wear rate. The extreme low surface roughness and excellent water affinity of the quarty glass surface are the key factors to renlize the ultra lubrication. Addition of hard filler into the friction material tends to destroy the quarty glass surface, results in deterioration of tribological performance.
