Finite element analysis of tire rolling contact based on ring supported on elastic foundation model

Abstract:

A finite element model (FEM) was built for the mechanical characteristic in the tire plane based on the model of ring supported on elastic foundation. The effects of load and speed on the tire spindle load response were analyzed by simulation for the tire passing the cleats on drum under different loads and speeds.The comparison between the calculated and tested results demonstrated the accuracy of the FEM for spindle load prediction. The model is important for the study of vehicle NVH behavior and durability.
