Analysis of forces acted on punch in flashless die forging

Abstract: Based on the energy principles and the limit method in plastic theory in the light of metal flow pattern and displacement-velocity model of metal deformation in flashnless die forging,the forces acted on the punch in this kind of forging was analysed.The relationship between the force acted on the punch and cone angle of the punch was derived and the cone angle of the punch was optimized.It is the result that optimum punch taper is an angle of 15?.The research results were used in design of a punch in flashless die forging for the star-like inner race of constant-velocity universal joint in cars and the fracture problem of punch was solved.
